Pastor Zachary is 56 years old and has been married to his wife, Keletesia, for 35
years. Together, they have nine children.
Pastor Zachary was formerly an alcoholic, and his wife was always sickly. In 1990, amidst ridicule from his former drinking squad and relatives, he came to believe in
Jesus Christ as his Savior. He joined the pastoral ministry in 1993. He didn’t have any ministry training and often taught his congregation out of obligation, but he
wasn’t confident in his own sermons.
Convicted by his lack of basic knowledge of the scriptures, he tried to attain some Bible knowledge from the theology schools he knew of. He said, “I didn’t need
anyone to point out my deficiencies for me. I knew I needed to learn, but my financial status was too low to meet the required tuition fees. During this time of my life, staff from the Rural Pastors Institute visited our village. I had no direction as a lead pastor, and I celebrated as I learned that I could get this knowledge through sponsorship.”
Pastor Zachary provides for his family on an annual income of $1,000.
