Tragically, due to illness, Pastor Stephen experienced the heart-wrenching loss of his first wife. This pivotal moment set him on a path of spiritual transformation, becoming a testimony of unwavering faith. Even when others doubted, he found his refuge and purpose in the Lord. Pastor Stephen has been remarried for seven years to Kusasirwa Sarah and he’s been blessed with seven children.

Seeking to provide for his family, he relocated to Bukwaya Island, where he diligently worked to make ends meet. An opportunity arose when he was approached to fill the void left by the sudden departure of the previous pastor on another island. Despite the lack of clarity surrounding the former pastor's exit, Pastor Stephen seized the chance to step into leadership and continue the vital work of shepherding the congregation. What makes his dedication even more remarkable is the challenging journey.  Each Sunday, he takes a small boat and rides for two hours across often turbulent waters and unpredictable elements to ensure he reaches Malijja Island, where he faithfully preaches to his congregation.

Despite some believers prioritizing fishing over church attendance in the nomadic culture, he has faithfully served his Malijja community for nine years with unwavering commitment. He acknowledges the absence of formal training as limiting and understands the importance of grounding his teachings in God's word. As such, Pastor Stephen views the opportunity for training at the Rural Pastors Institute as a divine provision.

As a peasant farmer, he faces financial constraints that make paying for tuition an overwhelming challenge. However, his determination to equip himself for ministry remains unwavering. With your support, he can embark on a growth journey, equipping him to further navigate the complexities of ministry with wisdom and clarity.
