Joshua’s Story

Born into a family deeply rooted in witchcraft, Pastor Joshua was abandoned by his mother at just two years old and grew up without even a name. He was raised by his aunt and later enrolled in a church-founded school. His father, though distant, occasionally visited and taught him how to read parts of the Bible.

Years later, his mother returned—transformed after giving her life to Christ—and shared the gospel with him. It was at that moment he gave his life to Jesus and chose the name Joshua for himself. He became known as a man who loved and obeyed the Lord. When an opportunity arose for ministry partnership, over 20 pastors recommended him. Since 2005, he has faithfully pastored in his village while his ministry partner serves in the city.

However, along the journey, he fell into fornication—a moment that brought severe judgment and rejection from fellow pastors. He was publicly ridiculed, and the church he had built declined rapidly. Yet, through God’s grace and the support of a faithful partner, he was restored. He chose to marry the same woman, Aidah, and together they now have seven children and have been married for 19 years.

Today, the church has been rebuilt both spiritually and physically. Through this journey, Pastor Joshua has realized that gifting alone is not enough to sustain ministry—he needs sound training. After exploring several options that were recommended to him, he found them either unsuitable or unaffordable, he encountered RPI and strongly sensed God leading him there.

Training That Reaches Beyond the Classroom

In June 2026, RPI held a training week for pastors’ wives, including wives from the current cohort. In July, staff reported that pastors were encouraged by changes they observed in their homes after that training. This is a cohort-wide account and does not establish participation or outcomes for any particular pastor’s household.
