Joseph’s Story
Raised by his grandmother, Pastor Joseph grew up without ever knowing his father. Later, he was taken to meet his mother, who was battling breast cancer. Determined to help, he worked hard tending cattle, but the situation felt hopeless, and he eventually ran away to the streets, where he became involved in drugs.
A few years later, he learned of his mother’s passing.
In 2002, while listening to the radio, he heard the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He joined a church and began serving in youth ministry. However, tragedy struck when a witch doctor attacked the church—burning it down and reporting the believers to the police. Pastor Joseph, along with other pastors, was arrested. After their release, the other leaders fled, leaving him behind.
With only his wife by his side—whom he has been married to for 25 years—he began again. Starting from his own home, he rebuilt the church, and people gradually returned. Despite his faithfulness, he recognizes a deep gap in his understanding of Scripture. He has been teaching based only on what he previously heard, describing himself as “zealous without knowledge.” He longs to learn, yet he cannot read or write. When he heard about RPI, he deeply desired to be trained. However, with an annual income of $430, he is unable to afford it.
