Eloi’s Story

Pastor Luyima was born into a family where alcohol was introduced even in infancy—he tasted it during his naming ceremony. At age nine, he encountered Christ when a church supported his family after their home burned down.

Soon after, he discovered that the woman who raised him was not his biological mother. Sent away by his father to seek inheritance from his mother’s wealthy household, he returned empty-handed—only to be rejected again. He wandered until he reached Mayuge, which would later become home for both his family and ministry.

He married Maria in 2016, and they now have seven children. In 2020, he became a pastor, but leadership brought significant challenges. After correcting a church member, conflict arose, dividing the congregation and calling his leadership into question. For three difficult months, he endured intense opposition—but remained steadfast.

These experiences created in him a deep hunger to be trained. He shared this desire with many until someone told him about RPI—a provision he considers nothing short of a miracle. With an annual income of $1,200, however, he cannot afford the training on his own.

Training That Reaches Beyond the Classroom

In June 2026, RPI held a training week for pastors’ wives, including wives from the current cohort. In July, staff reported that pastors were encouraged by changes they observed in their homes after that training. This is a cohort-wide account and does not establish participation or outcomes for any particular pastor’s household.
