Pastor David Wabwire began following Christ at age 13 and has faithfully served as a pastor in Makhoma Village, Bugiri, for 16 years. On the opening day of one of his churches, seven people gave their lives to Christ, a memorable encouragement in his ministry.
His ministry has also faced serious trials. A friend falsely accused him of being involved in a cult, and the rumor spread through the village. David lost one of the three churches he had planted. Although his wife encouraged him to leave, he remained in the village, trusting God through the difficulty. Eventually, the accusations were shown to be false, his reputation was restored, and he reconciled with the friend who had spread the rumor.
David has long desired to grow in his understanding of Scripture. Although he previously graduated from a Christian Bible school, an RPI mini-training introduced him to a more personal and discipleship-focused approach to biblical teaching. He found this training especially meaningful and wanted to continue learning.
David previously worked as a bus and truck driver, but at the time his testimony was recorded he had lost his job and could not afford further training. RPI's Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Program seeks to help pastors like David continue growing in biblical knowledge, discipleship, leadership, and practical sustainability as they serve their churches and families.
Thank you for being a Pastoral Sponsor at Rural Pastors International.

Pastor David has continued serving his community through opposition, loss, and eventual reconciliation. His desire for biblical discipleship and his commitment to his congregation remain central to his ministry.
As RPI continues walking alongside pastors through the Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Program, we look forward to sharing additional personal updates from David as they become available.
RPI's goat project is one of the practical ways we are developing our Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Program. Through raising and caring for goats, we are creating opportunities for pastors to learn valuable agricultural skills that can help them better provide for their families.
The project continues to grow, with new baby goats being born at RPI! As the herd grows, so does the potential for this project to benefit more pastors and their families.
Our goal is to equip pastors with practical knowledge and sustainable opportunities that can strengthen their families and communities while allowing them to continue faithfully serving in ministry.

RPI's relationship with pastors continues beyond their initial biblical training. Through ongoing discipleship, encouragement, follow-up, continued learning, and practical sustainability training, pastors like David can continue growing as leaders while working toward stronger families, churches, and ministries.
