Pastor Moses Bawuna was born in 1968. Around the age of 19, in 1987, he gave his life to Christ after a teacher shared the gospel with him at school.
In 1992, he married Nakayima Rebecca. Not long after their marriage, they experienced the heartbreaking loss of their first child, which deeply tested his faith. Yet, the church community surrounded them with prayer and support. Local pastors stood with him as well, praying not only for comfort but also for healing over their other child, who had begun showing symptoms similar to those of the child they lost. Today, they have been blessed with 14 children and are grateful to God for their family.
The church he now pastors began in his father's compound, and by God's grace, over the years they have been able to purchase property for their congregation and build a church building. However, they have faced significant challenges, and the pressure is intense. His church is now literally sandwiched between established churches—a neighboring Catholic and Anglican congregation who have purchased plots on either side, separated only by boundary lines. Despite this, Pastor Bawuna and his congregation remain steadfast, trusting God to guide them through these challenges and every decision they face.
He has served as an assistant pastor for four years and is being mentored to take on greater leadership responsibilities within his church. Pastor Moses admits his understanding of the Word is limited, and it burdens him that he has only one male congregant—the rest of his church is made up of women. He deeply desires training that will help him disciple and grow a balanced, strong congregation.
His vision is to see lives saved and transformed through the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor Bawuna seeks training to build on his existing knowledge and sharpen his skills for effective ministry.
In addition to his pastoral duties, he works as a peasant farmer and engages in poultry farming to support his family and ministry.
Since completing his initial RPI training, Pastor Moses has begun meeting with pastors in his village to share Scripture and encourage greater unity and biblical understanding. In an area where division and incorrect teaching have created challenges among churches, he has sought to use what he learned through RPI to strengthen other pastors as well as his own congregation.
In September 2026, 20 RPI pastors and their wives completed entrepreneurship training in partnership with Ekisinga. The training provided practical instruction designed to help families develop sustainable sources of income while pastors continue faithfully serving their churches and communities.
The pastors also toured RPI's goat project as they prepare for future hands-on training. The project is one of the practical ways RPI is exploring opportunities that can help pastors and their families strengthen household sustainability.
Alongside vocational development, RPI continues providing discipleship, follow-up, encouragement, and practical training for graduate pastors as they apply what they have learned within their families, churches, and communities.
RPI's relationship with pastors continues beyond their initial biblical training. Through ongoing discipleship, encouragement, follow-up, continued learning, and practical sustainability training, pastors like Moses can continue growing as leaders while working toward stronger families, churches, and ministries.
