Sponsor NowBorn in 1994 into a Muslim family, Pastor Jeremiah Kitimbo made the decision to follow Christ during a village crusade after hearing the words, “Come to me, all who are weary….” He quickly became an active member of the church.
As the church began engaging in outreach programs, many people from surrounding communities came to Christ, but there was no one to disciple or pastor them. Sensing he might be called, Pastor Jeremiah—like Jonah—ran. He fled to another village and hid there for four months, trying to avoid the weight of the call. But the conviction in his heart only grew stronger, and eventually he surrendered and returned to take up the responsibility. In 2020, he became the pastor of Redeemed Church of God.
His obedience was quickly tested. In his first year of ministry, Muslims in the community set fire to his grass-thatched house after he led one of them to Christ. The attack shook him but did not deter him—it only deepened his resolve to serve. His vision for the church is to transform the community in every aspect, spiritually, financially, and practically, through the spreading of the gospel.
Though leading a church, Pastor Jeremiah admits his understanding of the Word is shallow. Busy leaders offer little mentorship, and he has had no formal biblical training. As a young man, he finds himself pastoring elders and counseling across all age groups—a task that often leaves him feeling unprepared.
He is eager for training to strengthen his understanding of Scripture and pastoral ministry. Learning at the Rural Pastors Institute comes at a defining moment, offering the structured training and spiritual growth he has long desired. Living in a predominantly Muslim community, he is challenged daily to defend his faith.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Pastor Jeremiah works as a farmer and small retailer, earning about $500 annually. He has been married to Nakilanda Joanita since 2016, and they have three children.

Since completing his initial RPI training, Pastor Jeremiah has begun meeting with pastors in his village to share Scripture and encourage greater unity and biblical understanding. In an area where division and incorrect teaching have created challenges among churches, he has sought to use what he learned through RPI to strengthen other pastors as well as his own congregation.
In September 2026, 20 RPI pastors and their wives completed entrepreneurship training in partnership with Ekisinga. The training provided practical instruction designed to help families develop sustainable sources of income while pastors continue faithfully serving their churches and communities.
The pastors also toured RPI's goat project as they prepare for future hands-on training. The project is one of the practical ways RPI is exploring opportunities that can help pastors and their families strengthen household sustainability.
Alongside vocational development, RPI continues providing discipleship, follow-up, encouragement, and practical training for graduate pastors as they apply what they have learned within their families, churches, and communities.
RPI's relationship with pastors continues beyond their initial biblical training. Through ongoing discipleship, encouragement, follow-up, continued learning, and practical sustainability training, pastors like Jeremiah can continue growing as leaders while working toward stronger families, churches, and ministries.
