Simon's Story

Pastor Simon came to faith in 1991 and began pastoral ministry in 1994. He and his wife Gertrude have shared approximately 43 years of marriage as of 2026 and have eight children. His passion is leading people to Christ; many of those he has reached have become pastors themselves. He has also experienced the harm of false teachings and scandals because of gaps in biblical understanding, and looks forward to a stronger foundation in Scripture through RPI.

Following His Journey

Persevering Through Challenges

Pastor Simon Peter shared that his young ministry was continuing to grow, even as he faced discouragement and wondered why some of his efforts were not turning out as he hoped. His piggery project, family home construction, and his children’s education had faced setbacks. Some of his children had been reluctant to return to school. A charcoal venture also produced only 17 bags rather than the 50 he had hoped for.

Despite those struggles, Simon affirmed his commitment to serving God and his conviction that ministry is a joy rather than a burden. He had begun working with another pastor in his village to organize evangelistic crusades and share the Gospel.

His Family’s Journey

Simon requested prayer for his children’s education, including school fees after one child had been sent home. He also asked for provision as his family sought to rebuild their home after damage caused by heavy rains. Through it all, he asked for strength to remain steadfast and to grow in faith and maturity.

These are personal updates from 2024 and 2025. The current status of each need has not been confirmed.

CONTINUING THE JOURNEY

More Than a Training Program

RPI's relationship with pastors continues beyond their initial biblical training. Through ongoing discipleship, encouragement, follow-up, and opportunities for practical sustainability training, participating pastors can continue growing as leaders while working toward stronger families, churches, and ministries.

PROGRAM UPDATE

Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Update

In September 2026, 20 RPI pastors and their wives completed entrepreneurship training in partnership with Ekisinga. The training provided practical instruction designed to help families develop sustainable sources of income while pastors continue faithfully serving their churches and communities.

The pastors also toured RPI’s goat project as they prepare for future hands-on training. The project is one of the practical ways RPI is exploring opportunities that can help pastors and their families strengthen household sustainability.

Alongside vocational development, RPI continues providing discipleship, follow-up, encouragement, and practical training for graduate pastors as they apply what they have learned within their families, churches, and communities.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE PROGRAM

RPI’s Goat Project: Practical Skills for Sustainable Ministry

RPI’s goat project is one way we connect practical vocational learning with our long-term commitment to rural pastors. Goat raising and livestock management can offer pastors skills to explore ways of providing for their families while continuing to serve their congregations.

Through the Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Program, RPI seeks to pair ongoing discipleship with practical training that can help pastors build more stable livelihoods. The goal is not to replace biblical teaching, but to help reduce financial pressures that can make rural ministry difficult.

The goat project illustrates the practical sustainability opportunities within RPI’s program; Pastor Simon’s individual involvement with this project has not been confirmed.
