Rogers’s Story

Pastor Tenywa Rogers began his journey with Christ at the age of 13 while attending his first year of secondary school. Since then, he has continued growing in his faith and serving under the leadership of the church.

Rogers has experienced two life-threatening events that deeply shaped his understanding of God’s purpose for his life. In 2008, he survived a tragic car accident that claimed the life of his brother and left him with a fractured neck. In 2019, while traveling to a ministry prayer meeting, he was attacked by robbers, struck on the head with a brick, and rendered unconscious. Through these painful experiences, Rogers testifies that God revealed a greater purpose and calling for his life.

His biblical training through RPI brought a significant change in his understanding of ministry. He came to recognize that ministry is not simply about miracles or events, but about faithfully discipling people for Christ. The training also helped him recognize weaknesses in his previous approach to interpreting Scripture and preaching, giving him a stronger foundation for biblical teaching.

Before receiving this training, Rogers faced financial difficulties that made further biblical education seem out of reach. Through RPI, he was given the opportunity to strengthen his biblical understanding and develop valuable ministry leadership skills.

Today, Rogers also serves as RPI’s Facility Manager and Host, helping prepare the campus, accommodations, and meals for pastors, teachers, and visiting ministry teams. His faithful service behind the scenes helps create a welcoming environment where pastors can learn, grow, and be encouraged.

MINISTRY UPDATE

Rogers’s Ministry at RPI

June 23, 2026: Martin recognized Rogers for his work preparing RPI’s dormitory to welcome pastors’ wives for training. He highlighted Rogers’s faithful service behind the scenes and the care and hospitality he provides to visiting pastors and teachers.

From preparing accommodations to maintaining the grounds and coordinating hospitality, this practical service helps support RPI’s mission of equipping rural pastors.

Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Update

In September 2026, 20 RPI pastors and their wives completed entrepreneurship training in partnership with Ekisinga. The training provided practical instruction designed to help families develop sustainable sources of income while pastors continue faithfully serving their churches and communities.

The pastors also toured RPI’s goat project as they prepare for future hands-on training. The project is one of the practical ways RPI is exploring opportunities that can help pastors and their families strengthen household sustainability.

Alongside vocational development, RPI continues providing discipleship, follow-up, encouragement, and practical training for graduate pastors as they apply what they have learned within their families, churches, and communities.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE PROGRAM

RPI’s Goat Project: Practical Skills for Sustainable Ministry

RPI’s goat project is one way we connect practical vocational learning with our long-term commitment to rural pastors. Goat raising and livestock management can offer pastors skills to explore ways of providing for their families while continuing to serve their congregations.

Through the Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Program, RPI seeks to pair ongoing discipleship with practical training that can help pastors build more stable livelihoods. The goal is not to replace biblical teaching, but to help reduce financial pressures that can make rural ministry difficult.

The goat project illustrates practical sustainability opportunities within RPI’s program. This is a program-wide update rather than a report about Pastor Rogers’s own vocational activities.

CONTINUING THE JOURNEY

More Than a Training Program

RPI’s relationship with pastors continues beyond initial biblical training. Through discipleship, encouragement, follow-up, and opportunities for practical sustainability training, pastors can continue growing as leaders while strengthening their families, churches, and ministries.
