Pastor Richard is 37 years old and he and his wife, Rebecca, have several children. He was left alone at the age of nine when his parents divorced.
Both of Pastor Richard’s parents left the home, leaving him to raise his siblings. Because of the financial pressures, he turned to robbery to make ends meet. Even after coming to the faith in 2004, he continued to break into homes and on several occasions, while stealing in the trading centers, he escaped angry mobs whose aim was to club him to death.
God wasn’t done with Richard though. Through years of discipleship, he started to seek after the Lord. As a result, he learned to work. In 2018, he became a pastor, and he has served the Seed of Faith Church in Kakunu village, where his congregation numbered 70 in his original account. Zealous to know the Lord and acquire biblical knowledge, Pastor Richard has valued the opportunity to receive biblical training through the Rural Pastors Institute.
Richard has worked to provide for his family despite significant financial hardship.

Richard has shared his gratitude to God for the congregation’s willingness to work together on renovating their church. Church members contributed by cutting wood, fetching water, and helping with the building work. In his update, the roof was still being completed, and the congregation was trusting God for provision.
Richard also described a growing love for God and His Word among church members. Following his graduation from RPI, he began organizing his biblical teaching around specific themes, including the greatest commandment to love God with all one’s heart, mind, and soul.
Richard and Rebecca were thankful to have purchased land for their family after facing housing uncertainty. They later began preparing bricks toward building a home. Richard also shared a testimony of an open-air outreach in which 50 people professed faith in Christ, with many beginning to attend church. These milestones are reasons for thanksgiving as supporters continue praying for their ministry and family.
RPI's relationship with pastors continues beyond their initial biblical training. Through ongoing discipleship, encouragement, follow-up, and opportunities for practical sustainability training, participating pastors can continue growing as leaders while working toward stronger families, churches, and ministries.
In September 2026, 20 RPI pastors and their wives completed entrepreneurship training in partnership with Ekisinga. The training provided practical instruction designed to help families develop sustainable sources of income while pastors continue faithfully serving their churches and communities.
The pastors also toured RPI's goat project as they prepare for future hands-on training. The project is one of the practical ways RPI is exploring opportunities that can help pastors and their families strengthen household sustainability.
Alongside vocational development, RPI continues providing discipleship, follow-up, encouragement, and practical training for graduate pastors as they apply what they have learned within their families, churches, and communities.
RPI's goat project is one way we connect practical vocational learning with our long-term commitment to rural pastors. Goat raising and livestock management can offer pastors skills to explore ways of providing for their families while continuing to serve their congregations.
Through the Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Program, RPI seeks to pair ongoing discipleship with practical training that can help pastors build more stable livelihoods. The goal is not to replace biblical teaching, but to help reduce financial pressures that can make rural ministry difficult.
The goat project illustrates the practical sustainability opportunities within RPI’s program; Pastor Richard Muyaka’s individual involvement with the goat project has not been confirmed.
