Sponsor NowPastor David Mukisa was raised by his father, who was also a pastor, and always intended to follow in his footsteps. Early in life, he understood salvation primarily as an escape from hell, but as his faith matured, he came to understand its meaning more deeply. He has served as a pastor for 13 years in Katogwe, Buyende.
Pastor David once measured success in ministry largely by material prosperity. When he asked his congregation for help with a ministry project, he was encouraged instead to take out a loan. He carried the burden of repaying it himself, adding to the challenges of providing for his wife, Juliet, and their ten children. He and Juliet have been married for 20 years.
Facing these challenges, he sometimes interpreted trials as persecution from the enemy. Training at the Rural Pastors Institute challenged that perspective, helping him recognize weaknesses in his understanding of Scripture and expectations for ministry. He desires to interpret and teach the Bible faithfully and to lead according to biblical principles rather than tradition.
Financial limitations have made further training difficult. Through RPI’s ongoing biblical discipleship and practical training, Pastor David hopes to grow in sound teaching, leadership, and wise stewardship as he serves his family and congregation. Recurring monthly investments help make training possible for pastors like David and others in the program.

As he continues growing, his desire is to lead his congregation according to biblical principles and to serve his family and community with greater wisdom.
RPI’s vision extends beyond a pastor’s first year of biblical training. Through continued discipleship and practical vocational instruction, RPI seeks to help pastors strengthen their ability to provide for their families while serving their churches and communities.
Practical sustainability efforts are intended to complement, not replace, biblical teaching. They help pastors pursue more stable livelihoods and greater independence as they continue faithfully in ministry.
Pastor David was one of 20 RPI pastors and pastors’ wives who participated in recent entrepreneurship training conducted in partnership with Ekisinga Ministries. The training focused on practical ways pastoral families can develop sustainable sources of income alongside their ministry responsibilities.
As part of this experience, Pastor David also toured the goat project at RPI’s farm. The visit introduced him to one of the practical projects being developed to support future hands-on sustainability training for pastors and their families.

RPI’s relationship with pastors continues beyond their initial biblical training. Through ongoing discipleship, encouragement, follow-up, continued learning, and practical sustainability training, pastors can continue growing as leaders while working toward stronger families, churches, and ministries.
