Program: Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship
Ministry: Rural Pastor
Your recurring monthly gift helps provide education and training for all the pastors in this program, not just one individual. Meet a few of the other pastors below.
Your investment supports pastoral education and training as a whole. You can invest in the program while continuing to follow, learn about, encourage, and pray for pastors like Pastor Emmanuel throughout their journey.
Sponsor NowBorn in 1986, Pastor Emmanuel Mwesigwa gave his life to Christ in 2005 after being witnessed to and led to Christ by his father, a moment that laid the spiritual foundation for his faith journey.
Nearly a year ago, he stepped into pastoral leadership after the previous pastor abandoned the church due to personal challenges. He became the fourth leader to take on the role, as three pastors before him had also walked away under difficult circumstances. Despite this discouraging history, Pastor Emmanuel is committed to upholding the church’s vision of fostering spiritual growth as individuals come to know their purpose and give their lives to Jesus Christ.
Recognizing that his short time in leadership has exposed his need for deeper biblical understanding, Pastor Emmanuel is eager to train with the Rural Pastors Institute (RPI). “I feel so green in ministry,” he admits, “but I truly desire to learn and be grounded.” For him, this training opportunity represents both hope and equipping for the road ahead.
His own faith has been refined through personal pain. He and his wife, Nagawa Elizabeth, endured the heartbreaking loss of a child, a sorrow that was further compounded by rumors and gossip that spread through the community. Some even claimed the church had closed. Yet through grief and misunderstanding, Pastor Emmanuel has remained steadfast, allowing hardship to deepen rather than diminish his calling. Married since 2009, he and Elizabeth are blessed with five children.
To support his family and ministry, Pastor Emmanuel works as a bicycle mechanic and spare parts seller, earning about $200 annually. Even with such limited income, he remains committed to the call of God on his life. Your sponsorship makes this transformative training possible, equipping Pastor Emmanuel to serve with wisdom, strength, and endurance. Despite their hard work, the family’s income is not enough to cover the valuable education Pastor Emmanuel receives at RPI. Your sponsorship makes this transformational training possible, equipping him in the Word of God.
Thank you for being a Pastoral Sponsor at Rural Pastors International.

In September 2026, 20 RPI pastors and their wives completed entrepreneurship training in partnership with Ekisinga. The training provided practical instruction designed to help families develop sustainable sources of income while pastors continue faithfully serving their churches and communities.
The pastors also toured RPI's goat project as they prepare for future hands-on training. The project is one of the practical ways RPI is exploring opportunities that can help pastors and their families strengthen household sustainability.
Alongside vocational development, RPI continues providing discipleship, follow-up, encouragement, and practical training for graduate pastors as they apply what they have learned within their families, churches, and communities.
RPI's goat project is one of the practical ways we are developing our Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Program. Through raising and caring for goats, we are creating opportunities for pastors to learn valuable agricultural skills that can help them better provide for their families.
The project continues to grow, with new baby goats being born at RPI! As the herd grows, so does the potential for this project to benefit more pastors and their families.
Our goal is to equip pastors with practical knowledge and sustainable opportunities that can strengthen their families and communities while allowing them to continue faithfully serving in ministry.
RPI's relationship with pastors continues beyond their initial biblical training. Through ongoing discipleship, encouragement, follow-up, continued learning, and practical sustainability training, pastors like Emmanuel can continue growing as leaders while working toward stronger families, churches, and ministries.
Your recurring monthly gift supports the education and training of all pastors in the Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Program, not one individual pastor.
RPI depends on recurring monthly sponsorship support to keep our pastoral training programs running. Our goal is to eventually have our training operations fully funded through committed monthly supporters, allowing general donations to focus more on infrastructure and program growth.
Until that goal is reached, general donations help fill gaps in operational funding. 100% of sponsorship contributions go directly toward funding the operational needs of our training programs, while general donations help meet various needs across the ministry.
