Henry's Story

Pastor Henry was born in 1985 into a Christian family where both parents shared the gospel with him from a young age. At 12, he gave his life to Christ and served faithfully for ten years without an official title.

He earned a living as a bricklayer, but when he saw his pastor’s financial needs, he felt called to support him. This became part of his ministry even before his official commissioning, which led to founding Shalom Christian Church. Pastor Henry leads this congregation with a passion to reach the lost and restore hope.

The road has not been easy. Many dismissed him due to his youth and questioned his leadership. His education was cut short because tuition costs were too high—something that may have affected how others viewed his credibility. After commissioning, his former church offered little support. He often felt like just a number, with no one checking in on his growth, leadership, or well-being. Few have ever asked about his development or whether he was advancing in biblical knowledge. Still, he pressed on. Pastor Henry often reflects on the many sacrifices he has made for the sake of ministry—pouring himself out for others while having no one pour into him. Despite these challenges, and though not married, Pastor Henry remains fully devoted to his calling with a clear vision of winning souls for Christ and helping believers grow strong in their faith and live with hope.

Alongside ministry, he continues bricklaying and farming, earning about $500 a year to support himself and the church. For years, he prayed for spiritual and theological training. In faith, he told his congregation God would open a door. Months later, Pastor Sosan from the Rural Pastors Institute reached out. Pastor Henry rejoiced, saying, “The RPI became exactly what I had envisioned.”

He recognizes gaps in his biblical knowledge and no longer wants to remain among those not properly taught. This gospel-centered training is an answered prayer—one he couldn’t access on his own. Your sponsorship makes this life-changing opportunity possible, ensuring Pastor Henry is equipped, truly seen, valued, and supported as he serves with renewed strength and purpose.

Completing biblical leadership training is an important milestone, but RPI's investment in rural pastors doesn't end at graduation.

Through our Vocational / Sustainability / Discipleship Program, we continue walking alongside pastors as they grow in their understanding of Scripture while developing practical skills to help support themselves, their families, and their ministries.

Many rural pastors serve congregations with very limited financial resources. By providing opportunities to learn sustainable ways of earning a living, RPI seeks to reduce the financial pressures these pastors face so they can remain focused on their calling.

Our goal is to equip pastors who are not only grounded in God's Word but also better prepared to serve their churches and communities for years to come.

CONTINUING THE JOURNEY

More Than a Training Program

RPI's relationship with pastors continues beyond their initial biblical training. Through ongoing discipleship, encouragement, follow-up, continued learning, and practical sustainability training, pastors like Henry can continue growing as leaders while working toward stronger families, churches, and ministries.
